Son Valley Ranch Day

We had a great day volunteering at Son Valley Ranch this last weekend. A group from the boys and girls club came to enjoy a day of fun, food, activities and devotions. We got the opportunity to help kids who come from different back grounds to experience nature, animals, and fellowship. Each group was divided into 4 groups rotating into different activities. I was helping the kids with horse back riding.  We taught the kids about how to groom a horse and how to put on the saddle. After putting on the gear we led the kids around on the horses teaching them how to use the reins. They had a blast riding a horse for the first time. Every kid got a picture of them with their horse and headed over to arts and crafts to make a special horseshoe frame keepsake to remember their day at camp.

After arts and crafts we took a break for lunch and free time. We had a great time getting to know everyone while sharing a meal.  After lunch, kids enjoyed a nature hike and games and activities. Kids loved playing frisbee and fetch with Truman. After we finished all the day's activities we gathered around to have a bible study and devotional. It was great being able to share the love of God with kids. After the devotion, we enjoyed a live bluegrass band and a barbecue. Truman and I also preformed our frisbee routine to entertain the crowd. Everyone had a great time and it was a successful ranch day.
